Development session – improving services in Nahariya

"Nahariya is abrand," emphasized Mayor Ronen Marelly, highlighting what we had already learnedas we worked with the municipality: Nahariya is governed by a robust leadershipand a great spirit that make the city what it is.

On Monday, followingmonths of work with an appointed team at the municipality, the Innovation Trackheld a development session with residents of Nahariya about improving municipalservices.

When mapping the municipalservices, the Innovation Track's team learned that while the municipality has extensiveinfo about its residents, this info is decentralized due to the large number ofinterfaces between departments. In addition, we found that residents tend to cometo the municipality in person instead of using formal means of communication tosolve problems.

Moreover, while employeesat the service departments use several channels to provide residents withbetter service, overloads and too many calls challenge their ability to operateeffectively.

Our shared work andresearch indicated that rethinking municipal services could serve as aneffective means for connecting new populations to the city – following asubstantial influx of families as well as singles during the recent war.

During the session, solutions for a range of issues arising from the field were proposed by municipalemployees, stakeholders and residents of Nahariya.

Now we go on to the nextstage: examining the ideas and formulating tailored responses, to generatebetter municipal services in the city of Nahariya.
